Gillian Glynn wrote the novel Gone Girl as well as the screenplay for the 2014 film of the same title directed by David Fincher and starring Rosamund Pike in an Academy Award nomination role. The story begins with Nick Dunne, played by Ben Afleck, reporting that his wife of five years has gone missing. As police investigate and media attention grows, their troubled marriage is revealed and Nick’s behavior begs the question of whether he killed his wife.
