The American theoretical physicist known as “the father of the atomic bomb" is the subject of the biographical film Oppenheimer, based on the Pulitzer Prize winning book, American Prometheus, by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin.
The film, set for release in the summer of 2023, follows the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer as director of the Los Alamos Laboratory’s “Manhattan Project” which created the first atomic bomb. Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, it features actor Cillian Murphy in the title role with a supporting cast that includes Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Rami Malek, and Kenneth Branagh.
