While cannabis use is known to trigger the “munchies,” a slow and careful addition of the plant into your diet can have a positive impact on overall health.
Eating raw cannabis won’t get you high the way smoking it will, nor will it increase appetite, but once heated and converted to THC it becomes psychoactive and hunger-inducing.
“Always be mindful of dose (the amount of THC in the food you are eating),” says culinary herbalist Pat Crocker in her book, Cooking with Cannabis.
Following the adage “start low and go slow,” Crocker’s 100 recipes in this guide are limited to 5mg of THC per serving and she suggests half or quarter servings to start.
“Everybody is different, and so is your state of mind every time you ingest an edible.”
