Texas Independence Day

  • Texas United States (map)

On March 2, 1836, settlers in Mexican Texas declared independence from Mexico and created the Republic of Texas. While not an official state holiday in Texas, this day is observed as a "partial staffing holiday" in which state offices are required to be open on that day but with reduced staffing.
