The Saint James Feast Day occurs on 25 July each year. James was one of the 12 disciples of Jesus Christ and the first to be martyred when Herod Agrippa ordered his death in AD 44. His remains are believed to be buried in Santiago de Compostela in Spain, where he is a patron saint. Known in Spanish as Santiago, James is also the patron saint of Galicia, Guatemala, Nicaragua and of fishermen.
