Southern Delta Aquariids Meteor Shower


This annual meteor shower, first noted in the mid-19th century, begins in mid-July and peaks with about 20 visible meteors per hour 10 days later before gradually tailing off by mid-August. Made up of remnants of a comet or asteroid, it is best viewed in the southern tropics on a moonless night. In the Northern Hemisphere, the farther south the location the better chance of seeing meteors along the southern horizon.
