Russia Day (День России) is the national holiday of the Russian Federation, established with the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) on 12 June 1990.
Officially named "Russia Day" by presidential decree in 1998, the holiday is celebrated with concerts and fireworks; most schools and public offices are closed.
When 12 June falls on a weekend, the holiday shifts to the Monday after.
