Introduced in 1977, the October Bank Holiday in Ireland is observed on the last Monday of October (Lá Saoire i mí Dheireadh Fómhair). This is the day after the end of Summer Time in the European Union. Unique to Ireland, the bank holiday weekend is also known as the Halloween Holiday (Lá Saoire Oíche Shamhna) with many Halloween themed events.
