Syringa vulgaris
A species of flowering plant in the olive family
native to the rocky hills of the Balkan Peninsula.
Known for its scented purple, pink, or white flowers
blooming in the middle of spring,
this large shrub or small tree is widely cultivated
and naturalized in much of Europe and North America.
While not an aggressive species
lilacs are found in the wild
usually near past or present human habitations.
