This is a year-round daily open air market in the market square, or Marktplatz, of Munich, Germany. Opened by King Max I Joseph in 1807, this “victuals” or food market, is an epicurean dream with a wide range of gourmet delicacies along with staple produce, meats and baked goods. A Bavarian Maibaum, or maypole, stands in the middle of the market with figures representing life in Munich.
