Children's Day is recognized on various days in many nations to call attention to children's issues.
In the United States, Children’s Day originated in 1856 when Reverend Dr. Charles Leonard of the Universalist Church of the Redeemer in Chelsea, Massachusetts envisioned a special day to baptize children.
In 1995, President William Clinton proclaimed a National Children’s Day as October 8, which was changed to a National Child’s Day in 2001 by President George W. Bush and moved to November 20 under President Barack Obama.
National Children’s Day is generally celebrated the second Sunday in June or October 8.
