Fiestas Patrias de Chile is one of the most popular celebrations in Chile, observed on September 18 and 19 with parades, dances, traditional food, music and other exhibitions of national pride.

September 18 is “Independence Day,” commemorating the anniversary of the First National Government Board.

September 19 is "Army Glory Day," a day of remembrance, respect and homage for the soldiers who have worked for the good of the country. A military parade is held in O'Higgins Park in the city of Santiago, attended by the highest authorities of the nation.
