The full moon in April is sometimes referred to as the Egg Moon, as it is usually the last full moon before Easter.
This full moon was known as the Pink Moon by Algonquian Indians of North America, as its appearance coincided with the bloom of moss pink, or wild ground phlox, one of the earliest widespread spring wildflowers.
It has also been dubbed the Sprouting Grass Moon, Seed Moon, the Waking Moon, and the Fish Moon because this is when some migrating fish swim upstream to spawn..
Buddhists refer to the April full moon as Bak Poya, while Hindus name iyt after the deity Hanumana.
