Eggnog Day

Derived from a Middle English word meaning small wooden mug, eggnog originated in England and became a popular winter elixir in the U.S. in the 18th century. The traditional recipe for eggnog is milk, cream, sugar, beaten eggs, spices, and some kind of alcohol. In England, white wine is favored while Germans prefer beer; Americans add bourbon or rum.
