Indelibly tied to Halloween and autumn, candy corn is a yellow, orange and white confection made from corn syrup, water, fondat, sugar, marshmallows and carnauba wax and shaped to resemble a kernel of corn.
First concocted by George Renninger of Wunderle Candy Company in the 1890s, candy corn was originally made by hand; today’s versions are all manufactured in quantity using a similar recipe to the original.
