Brandied Fruit Day

In the United States, this annual October 20 food holiday celebrates fruit marinated in brandy. Especially popular in the Victorian era, when brandy was added to fruits to preserve them hold on to their flavor through the winter months. Brandied fruit is often used as a topping on ice cream, custards, crepes, and cakes, or as a side dish with a side with grilled fish, chicken, lamb or pork.
