Everyone experiences gas, bloating, and other uncomfortable digestive symptoms from time to time. However, for people with sensitive stomachs, these symptoms can appear more frequently and may require treatment.
Acupressure is a type of traditional Chinese medicine that’s believed to be effective for gas, bloating, and stomach pain, among other conditions.
In the Acupressure Self-Care Handbook, Dr. Roger Dalet identifies the pressure points for treating this ailment:
Two Principle Points are located on the palm side of the wrist, right at the center, three finger-widths below the wrist crease; and the second is on the outer side of the calf, one hand-width beneath the case of the knee. Two Secondary Points are located in the middle of the line connecting the navel to the lower end of the sternum; and the second is on the midpoint of the back, two finger-widths away from the center of the spine.
“To treat chronic epigastric symptoms, stimulate the points two or three times a day for fifteen minutes each time,” Dr. Dalet advises. “In China, they often use methods of continuous stimulations — like electrical stimulation units — for this kind of ailment.”
