Named by Native Americans for its frequently spectacular presence above a stark winter landscape, full moon in February is known as the Snow Moon. It is also sometimes referred to as the Hunger Moon, Storm Moon, or Candles Moon. Buddhists refer to the February full moon as Navam Poya while Hindus call it Magh Poornima.
Micromoon
The 2024 February full Moon will be a “micromoon.” The opposite of a supermoon; a micromoon is a full Moon at its most distant location from Earth. Consequently, this full Moon will appear smaller than usual.
