Celebrated on the third Sunday in October since 1969, Mother's Day in Argentina originally coincided with the Feast of the Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in October. When the Feast was moved to January, Argentinians decided to stay with tradition and keep Mother's Day observances in October.
Argentine mothers are customarily gifted with handmade crafts, greeting cards, flowers, jewelry, and other items on this day and treated to parties, meals or a day off from cooking and chores.
