Massachusetts Statehood Day

On February 6, 1788, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts became the sixth state to join the United States. John Adams, of Boston, became the first Vice President and the second President. At that time, the territory of Maine was part of Massachusetts and did not get its own statehood until 1820.
