Sacher Torte Day

December 5 is the day for celebrating the iconic Viennese dessert with a dark chocolate glazing.

Invented by apprentice chef Franz Sacher for special guests of the Austrian State Chancellor in 1832, the cake became a favorite at the imperial court.

This food holiday is primarily observed in Austria, particularly in Vienna, where the cake originated.

The Hotel Sacher, founded by Sacher's son Eduard, is renowned for its "Original Sacher-Torte," which is still made using a closely guarded recipe.
