Raspberry Tart Day

Observed on August 11, this food holiday celebrates a pastry with a crispy crust, creamy filling, and fresh raspberries.

Raspberry tart day coincides with the peak of raspberry harvest throughout much of North America.

Although tarts have been baking since the Middle Ages, the first mention of a raspberry tart was by medical writer William Salmon in 1696.

And while raspberry tarts are enjoyed worldwide, this food holiday is unique to the USA.

This is a good day for baking raspberry tarts at home or enjoying them at bakeries and restaurants.
