Chocolate Covered Raisins Day

This March 24 food holiday celebrates raisins coated in a shell of either milk chocolate or dark chocolate and consumed as a healthy snack.

The Raisinets brand of this treat was created by Blumenthal Brothers Chocolate Company in 1927 and became especially popular at movie theater concessions. The brand was acquired by Nestle in 1984.

Chocolate Covered Raisins Day is primarily observed in the United States. In some countries, chocolate-covered raisins are better known as Raisinets. In Australia, they are known as Chocolate Covered Sultanas.
