Native to southern and southeast China and possibly adapted from Chinese walnut cookies, Chinese Almond Cookies first appeared in the United States after the wave of Chinese immigration in the mid-1800s. Made with diced almonds, they have a deliciously nutty flavor. This food holiday is celebrated annually on April 9.
