This annual April 23 food holiday celebrates the classic cheesecake topped with cherries. While savory cheesecakes have been around since Ancient Greece, cream cheese wasn’t invented until the 1870s and the cherry cheesecakes with a graham cracker crust so popular in the United States are a rather new introduction.
