In the hours leading up to midnight and the dawning of the new year, much partying and celebration will occur, including the tradition of dropping objects from tall buildings to mark the moment. As the Times Square Ball is falling on New Year's Eve a Peach will descend in Atlanta, Georgia.

The state’s signature fruit, represented in an 800-pound fiberglass and foam sculpture, will slowly drop from a tower at Underground Atlanta during a community event that has attracted crowds of up to 60,000 in years past.
