A French tradition dating back to the Middle Ages, the puff pastry with almond-flavored frangipane filling known as galette des rois or “Kings’ cake” is served only during the month of January.
The Galette des Rois is traditionally served in France to celebrate the Epiphany (which starts January 6), the day when the Three Kings visited Baby Jesus. The season for Galette des Rois lasts from Twelfth Night to Mardi Gras.
Alliance Française de Seattle, the Union des Français à l'Étranger de Seattle, La Parisienne French Bakery and French Cider host this celebration at La Parisienne French Bakery in Seattle, Washington.
