Corpus Christi

Latin for "body of Christ," Corpus Christi is a liturgical rite celebrating faith in the body and blood of Jesus Christ and his real presence in the Eucharist. It emphasizes the joy of the institution of the Eucharist, instituted by Jesus Christ during his Last Supper.

Feast of Corpus Christi

Celebrated in many Western Catholic churches as well as by some Anglicans and Lutheran churches, Corpus Christi is a movable feast held on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday or, in some places, on the following Sunday. Its celebration on a Thursday associates it with the Maundy Thursday commemoration of the Last Supper.
